As is typical of all natural parks, Zgornja Idrijca Natural Park also encompasses the cultivated areas of nature combining typical landscape with the features of natural and cultural heritage, which would also be the way to describe these kinds of protected areas.
The uniqueness of a particular area makes its natural heritage and they can thus be considered natural monuments, and those still intact to this day are referred to as nature reserves. Cultural heritage is recognized in cultural, technical and archaeological monuments and monuments of humanistic value. Hence these types of memorabilia become reminders of the importance of balance in nature and harmony with the nature of cultivated environment.
The natural parks aim to tell a story and educate, as well as represent a biotope; a regular visitor can also view it as a place for recreation and relaxation. Also, in unique parts they are to be perceived as reserves and places for scientific research.
In order for natural parks’ natural and cultural content to be preserved for generations to come as well as provide a habitat for numerous animal and plant species, protective measures for such areas have been undertaken. Thus for the complete area of the Zgornja Idrijca natural park strict rules concerning building, exploitation of natural resources, flower picking, hunting and pollution have been imposed. Although provided that we are environmentally conscious visitors, we immediately take on a responsibility for leaving behind a clean and undamaged environment. |
