Krekovše used to be a wood post, where foresters stayed for many weeks realizing that due to difficult accessibility and remoteness returning back home each day would have been too time-consuming.
Today a hunter family also owns a cabin at Krekovše. However, this remains almost the only deforested part of the Belca catchment area. Extending all around are the thick forests and almost impassable slopes. Krekovše are one of the four steepest regions in Slovenia with a precipitation rate of more than 3,000 mm per m² annually. However, heavy rainfall results in luxurious flora and massive forests. |
